ELV (End of Lifetime Vehicle) Ordinance

In the years 2003 to 2010 FHA GmbH in a consortium with Tanzer Consulting GmbH was authorized by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) according to § 75 Sec. 2 of the Austrian Waste Management Act ("AWG 2002") to control the compliance of several Austrian companies with ELV Ordinance (BGBl. Nr. II 407/2002). Additionally FHA GmbH was called to determine the reycling quotas by shredder efficiency tests for the recycling of end of lifetime vehicles in accordance to ELV Ordinance in the years 2004 to 2014.

Duties and targets

On behalf of BMLFUW FHA GmbH are now making controls to ensure that all parties involved in the ELV Ordinance are meeting their obligations based on the standards of the ELV Ordinance to operate a comprehensive notification and reporting system.

The manufacturers/importers and all companies that take back ELV in their own name (initial processing operators) are required to make electronic reports of all recycling measures of all parties of the recovery chain (from the take back of the ELV to the sale of single materials after shredding).

In addition to this FHA GmbH is authorized to confirm that companies involved in ELV treatment are meeting the technical and constructional standards as defined in the ELV Ordinance.
